Frequently asked questions.

What is holistic dentistry, and how does it work?

Holistic dentistry treats oral health as integral to overall body health. Conscious Dentistry applies this by using biocompatible materials and treatments that support your entire well-being, not just your teeth.

What are biologic dental practices, and why are they important?

Biologic dental practices focus on using the least toxic and most natural materials and methods. They are important for minimizing your body's exposure to harmful substances and promoting natural healing.

What does "biocompatible materials" mean, and what types do you use?

Biocompatible materials are those that are harmonious with your body's biology, reducing adverse reactions. Conscious Dentistry uses materials free from mercury, certain metals, and harmful chemicals.

What is safe mercury amalgam removal (SMART), and why do you offer it?

SMART is a protocol for safely removing old mercury fillings to minimize mercury vapor exposure. Conscious Dentistry offers it to protect both patient and staff from potential mercury toxicity.

What should I expect at my first visit?

During your first appointment, we’ll perform a comprehensive exam, take any necessary X-rays, and discuss your health history, lifestyle, and goals. We take time to get to know you and create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs. If you would like to have cleaning with your initial consultation, please kindly inform our receptionist, and she can arrange it.

What is ozone therapy in dentistry?

Ozone therapy is a natural treatment that uses ozone gas to disinfect and promote healing. It can be used to treat cavities, gum disease, and support overall oral health without the need for chemicals.

What insurance do you accept, and do you offer direct billing to insurance?

We work with most major dental insurance providers. Our practice does not offer direct billing. This means payment for treatment is due in full at the time of your appointment. However, our team will electronically submit your insurance claim right away so your insurance provider reimburses you directly, typically within a few business days.

At what age should my child be evaluated for orthopedic expansion?

We recommend airway-focused evaluations as early as age 4 to 6. The earlier we can identify signs of underdevelopment or airway restriction, the more effective and gentle the treatment can be. Every child develops at their own pace, so we tailor our recommendations based on individual needs.
